"In addition to a more modern and efficient shopping experience, once open, the new location will allow us to offer shoppers more options and amenities that simply aren't possible at the current, smaller location." Todd Schnuck, the company's chairman and CEO, said that on June 23, 2026, when Schnucks broke ground on a new Creve Coeur store at Olive Boulevard and North Spoede Road.
"Once open" is still a long way off. Creve Coeur's FY2027 budget expects the new store to open around Thanksgiving 2027. Meanwhile, most of what opened on Olive this summer and fall went in at the other end of the corridor, between the 12300 and 12700 blocks. That end has its own Schnucks too. Through 2027, Olive works like two separate halves: one where new places keep opening, and one where construction sets the pace.
Two Schnucks, Nine Years Apart
Creve Coeur has two Schnucks, both on Olive. The east one, at 10650 Olive Blvd. at North Spoede Road, opened in 1967. At 36,500 square feet, it is one of the oldest and smallest stores the chain runs. The west one, at 12756 Olive Blvd. in Bellerive Plaza, opened in 1976.
The two stores bookend the corridor. Most of the new places that opened this year sit close to the Bellerive end. The 1967 store is about to get a 68,000-square-foot replacement next door, nearly twice its size. The new store will anchor Olia Village, the mixed-use project replacing the former Bayer campus.
What Actually Opened Between July and Mid-September
Here is this season's list, with the dates as local outlets reported them. For the two places that haven't opened yet, the table gives the latest forecast.
| Place | Address | What it is | Status as of early October 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dewey's Pizza | 736 N. New Ballas Rd., Creve Coeur Plaza | Counter-service pizza | Opened this summer; St. Louis Public Radio's July and August roundups both list it |
| Einstein Bros. Bagels | 12505 Olive Blvd., Suite A, Heritage Place | 2,453-square-foot bakery, seats 40 | Opened Monday, Aug. 3 |
| Elby Donuts | 11252 Olive Blvd. | Additional location | Opened Sept. 11 |
| Rajadhani | 12316 Olive Blvd., former Santa Fe Bistro | Restaurant | Opened Sept. 17 |
| Sourdough & Co. | 12589 Olive Blvd., Heritage Plaza | Sandwiches, soup, salad | Expected late October |
| Firebirds Wood Fired Grill | 10590 Old Olive Street Rd., former California Pizza Kitchen | Restaurant | Expected this fall, no date given |
None of these is a new building. Rajadhani took over an existing restaurant space, and Firebirds is moving into one. Einstein Bros. leased a suite in Heritage Place. Sourdough & Co. is heading into Heritage Plaza, a few doors west. Dewey's opened in Creve Coeur Plaza on New Ballas. All of them went into retail centers that were already there.
The 12300 to 12700 Blocks
Read the Olive addresses from west to east and the pattern shows. The Bellerive Plaza Schnucks is at 12756. Sourdough & Co.'s planned store is at 12589. Einstein Bros. opened at 12505, and Rajadhani at 12316. Four of this season's names fall within roughly 450 address numbers, and three of them are new arrivals.
On that end, a weekday morning now has more options than it did in spring. Einstein Bros. opened Aug. 3 with seating for 40. If Sourdough & Co. opens on the late-October timeline that Sauce and FOX 2 reported in July, Heritage Place and Heritage Plaza will have a breakfast stop and a lunch stop a short walk apart. Rajadhani's Sept. 17 opening means the former Santa Fe Bistro space is serving dinner again.
Elby Donuts, at 11252 Olive, sits in the middle of the corridor. It opened Sept. 11 as an additional location for the shop. Dewey's is off Olive entirely, on North New Ballas in Creve Coeur Plaza. That's another existing center, getting its first new tenant in a while.
The East End Runs on a Longer Clock
At the Spoede end, the timeline is measured in years. Olia Village covers 96 acres on the former Bayer campus at 10300 Olive Boulevard. It is being developed by Jack Matthews Development and Fireside Financial. The city's budget describes a planned mixed-use "Main Street" with about 400,000 square feet of commercial space, plus retail, restaurant, hotel, office and residential uses. The budget calls it one of the most significant economic development projects in Creve Coeur's history.
For now, the grocery store is the only piece with a named operator and a groundbreaking date. The September 2025 site plan for Lot 1 includes the grocery store and 38,499 square feet of multi-tenant retail, but none of that retail has been named. The city's FY2027 budget says site preparation and infrastructure work continued across Olia Village through FY2026, with construction expected to proceed in phases.
The sequence matters to anyone who shops at Olive and Spoede. The 1967 store stays open while the new one is built next door. Employees move to the new store when it opens, and Schnucks expects to hire more to staff the larger building. After that, the old store is scheduled for demolition. No public plan yet says what will replace it.
The way in is changing too. In 2025 the City Council accepted a public access road through the northeast corner of the existing Schnucks parking lot. The Bayer-side road is being shifted south and straightened, with added lanes in and out and a MoDOT review at Olive. Nearby, the city's budget reports that reconstruction and new signals began in FY2026 at Lindbergh Boulevard and Old Olive Street Road, with work expected to continue into FY2027. Firebirds' planned home at 10590 Old Olive Street Road is in that same area.
What the Finished Version Promises
Olia Village's development plan includes some features that look nothing like a strip center. About 26 percent of the site is set aside as common ground and park. The plan also calls for roughly four miles of sidewalks and public trails, open during daytime and maintained by the property owners' association. The Main Street is described as pedestrian-oriented, and it can be closed for city events.
Homes are coming as well. The Vale at Olia Village is 67 attached townhomes on about 11 acres, built by Fischer Homes. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended its final plat on Aug. 17, and a bill for the plat went to the City Council on Aug. 24. The budget notes that each phase will come back to the City Council for approval. Anyone tracking the east end can follow it one council agenda at a time.
Which Dates Are Firm
Some of this season's dates are confirmed, and some are only forecasts.
- Confirmed: Einstein Bros. Bagels opened Aug. 3, Elby Donuts Sept. 11, Rajadhani Sept. 17. Schnucks broke ground June 23.
- Confirmed, month unclear: Dewey's Pizza is open in Creve Coeur Plaza. St. Louis Public Radio listed it in both its July and August roundups.
- Forecast: Sourdough & Co. in late October, Firebirds sometime this fall.
- City estimate: The new Schnucks around Thanksgiving 2027.
- Not yet announced: Other Olia Village tenants, and what replaces the old Schnucks building.
Between now and late 2027, the biggest construction on Olive will be at the Spoede end, and the new places to eat will keep opening near Bellerive Plaza.
